Luxury car hire in Mijas and Mijas Costa
Mijas is really two places. Mijas Pueblo clings to the hillside above four hundred metres, with steep streets and views that reach Africa on clear days. Mijas Costa stretches twenty kilometres along the shore below, between La Cala and Calahonda. Linking the two without a car is awkward.
Why a car makes sense here
Sea to sierra in 15 minutes
The road up from Fuengirola gains four hundred metres in a few kilometres. The change in temperature and landscape is immediate, and the descent at sunset is one of the province's most rewarding stretches.
A scattered coastline
Mijas Costa's developments are separated by kilometres of A-7 with no continuous pavement. Every shop, dinner or new beach means driving.
Golf
Several courses — Mijas Golf, Calanova, La Cala Resort — sit inland. With golf kit, boot space outranks everything else.
Good to know
The white village sits at 430 metres
You climb from Fuengirola on the A-387: fifteen minutes of bends with sea views. In winter, early in the day, the shaded sections can stay damp.
One car park, at the village entrance
Mijas Pueblo is almost entirely pedestrian. The Virgen de la Peña car park by the viewpoint is the reference point: in August, arrive before eleven.
Mijas Costa is spread over many kilometres
La Cala, Calahonda and Riviera are separate hubs strung along the A-7. Five to ten minutes apart by car, and essentially nothing on foot.
SUV for inland, convertible for the coast
Mijas is lived at two altitudes. For the golf courses and inland estates, an SUV; for the A-387 up to the white village and the La Cala coast, a convertible.
What avoids trouble here
Very wide cars in Mijas Pueblo and very low cars in the golf urbanisations. Between those two extremes, almost the whole fleet works.
Which car suits best
For Mijas we suggest height and luggage room: Audi SQ5, BMW X5, Porsche Macan or Range Rover Evoque. For coast-only plans, the Ford Mustang convertible fits the La Cala–Fuengirola run.

Frequently asked questions
Do you deliver to both Mijas Pueblo and the coast?
Yes, to both. We drive up to the village and also deliver in La Cala, Calahonda, Riviera del Sol and the inland golf urbanisations.
How long is the drive from the airport?
To Mijas Costa, about 30 minutes on the A-7. To Mijas Pueblo, around 40 including the climb from Fuengirola.
Which car do you recommend for the climb?
Anything with decent torque: the A-387 gains 430 metres in a few kilometres. An SUV or a sports car both cope; what is narrow is the village streets, not the road.
Do I need a car if I stay at a golf resort?
Yes. The inland Mijas courses sit five to seven kilometres from any shop or restaurant, and public transport barely covers that area.
Is delivery to Mijas free?
Yes, Mijas falls inside the Estepona–Marbella–Fuengirola axis, so there is no delivery surcharge.
Can I leave the car in the village overnight?
The entrance car park is open 24 hours. Parking on the old streets is not possible: access is restricted to residents.
Do you hire luxury cars in Mijas?
Yes, in Mijas Pueblo and on the coast alike: La Cala, Calahonda, Riviera del Sol and the golf resorts. Delivery is free.
Which SUV suits the golf resorts best?
A Macan, an SQ5 or an X5: enough height for the ramps and speed bumps, still narrow enough for the white village streets.
