Why a car makes sense here
Underground parking
The historic centre is restricted-access. The Plaza de la Marina and Cervantes car parks are the practical option and worth budgeting for.
A base for day trips
Granada, Córdoba, Ronda and the Caminito del Rey are all under two hours away. Without a car, each depends on bus timetables.
Hotel delivery
We bring the car on the day you need it rather than for the whole stay — leaving it parked downtown for days does not pay off.

The historic centre is access-restricted
Central Málaga's streets are camera-controlled and closed to general traffic. You leave the car in a ring car park — Plaza de la Marina, Alcazaba or Salitre — and the centre is five minutes away.
The MA-20 skips the whole centre
To cross from one side of the city to the other, the MA-20 ring road always beats cutting through, even when the map suggests otherwise.
Fifteen minutes from the terminal
The airport is inside the city boundary: fifteen minutes on the MA-21. It is the shortest transfer in the province and works at any hour.

The centre is pedestrian and camera-controlled, so the car spends the day in a car park. Its value is in what surrounds the city: Frigiliana, Ronda, the Caminito del Rey and the inland Axarquía.
Compact by necessity
Central car park ramps are narrow and many bays are measured to the centimetre. A GLC, a Macan or a compact convertible fits comfortably; a GLS complicates every manoeuvre.
